Midweek Advent Service – Tidings of Comfort and Joy
Our lives are full of endings and beginnings happening all at once, interspersed with
waiting, lament, and hope. As we begin our new church year with the season of
Advent we experience hope, longing, fear, comfort, repentance, restoration, birth,
endings, and beginnings. The good news is the darkness is giving way to the light,
the world is being reborn, and God is on the way.
Thursdays at 6:30pm will be a time for us to gather together to sing, pray, and give
thanks that God meets us wherever we are, both physically and emotionally. This
midweek Advent series gives voice to the complex situations and emotions with
which we greet the coming Messiah.
The weekly themes are:
Dec 1 – The Angel speaks to Zechariah’s fear
Dec 8 – The Angel speaks to Joseph’s confusion
Dec 15 – The Angel speaks to Mary’s doubt
Dec 22 – The Angel speaks to the Shepherd’s curiosity
Thursday at 6:30pm – 7:15pm in the sanctuary.
