What an Energetic and Encouraging Sunday!- Saturday, November 22, 2025 Rev. Dr. Ray Aldred encoraged us with his message - the troubles of the world may cause us anxiety, but we are not to fear or be distracted. We need to keep the gospel at the center of our lives and community and keep our eyes on Jesus who will continue to show us how to share his love and grace with a hurting world. Rev. Ray chose "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less" as the Hymn of the Day, to remind us: On Christ the solid rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand. Ray also shared the gift of a powerful drumming Cree grass song, adapted to express faith and trust in Jesus Christ. If you missed it, you can hear and watch it on livestream https://www.facebook.com/GDLCNV/videos/1570263640975688/ After the service, we were treated to delicious bison soup made by Cari and award winning bannock bread baked by Ray's spouse, Elaine. Many of us also purchased beautiful greeting cards illustrated by Ray's artist daugther Cat. Making Christmas a Little Brighter- Wednesday, November 12, 2025 This Christmas season, we are once again supporting the Family Services of the North Shore Christmas Bureau by sponsoring three individuals in our community — two seniors and one teenager. Each person has shared a few of their wishes for the holiday, and we would like to make their Christmas a little brighter by providing thoughtful gifts and grocery gift cards. Lin Parkinson is coordinating this project and will be purchasing all the items on behalf of our congregation.
Deadline for donations: Saturday, December 14 Your generosity will help bring warmth, joy, and hope to those who might otherwise have very little this season. For more infomation visit:

Fair Trade Christmas Crafts – Support Palestinian ArtisansSaturday, December 6, at St. Andrew's United Church Saturday, December 6, at St. Andrew's United Church Explore a beautiful selection of handmade items from Bethlehem, Hebron, and Nablus in Palestine. Each piece reflects centuries of tradition and culture, making them perfect for meaningful Christmas gifts. The table will be hosted by two of our own, LaDonna and Lin. There are no tourists these days, and Bethlehem's economy has traditionally been fueled by tourism (70% of their income). The number of visitors plunged from around 2 million in 2019 to fewer than 100,000 in 2024. Unemployment is hovering around 50%. The tens of thousands of Palestinians who used to work in Israel have had their work permits cancelled (150,000 across the West Bank) Many of those who sold items online have had their bank accounts frozen as companies outside of Israel and Palestine 'reduce risk', so even online sales platforms have had to close. Palestinians in the West Bank want to work and earn a living, but most of their means of doing so have been cut off. By attending this fair, you can help support these artisans while finding unique, handmade treasures for the holiday season. Saturday, December 6, 2:00–5:30 PM Discover the stories behind each piece and make your holiday shopping truly meaningful. |
