Cross-Border Friendship Gathering

Cross-Border Friendship Gathering

British Columbia and NW Washington State Lutherans joining in Friendship - Sunday, June 14, 2026

Borders are meant to divide us. Recent political rhetoric has drawn lines that are meant to keep us apart. But we are one in Christ. To celebrate our shared mission and our oneness across the border, we will gather for a picnic to share food, stories, and joy. Come and meet Lutheran friends from across the border.

We have reserved a group picnic shelter which is accessed from the 8th Avenue Gate to the Park.  See directions at this link. The picnic shelter is of limited capacity - please register here so we can reserve additional space if needed. The deadline for registration is May 20th.

The idea for this picnic arose from the conversations at last year's We Are One Body Synod gathering and "Voices for Justice," group.

Pastor Vida shares the vision and invitation in this video - https://youtu.be/JtYkxHGn4iE?si=ZrTdauAbyA3ZYG1B

Turning Point Basket Ministry

Turning Point Basket Ministry

Welcome Baskets Ministry

Our faith calls us to care for those in our community who are experiencing times of transition and healing. We are especially mindful of the women in our neighbourhood who may be in need of encouragement and support.

Turning Point Recovery House is preparing to welcome a new group of women. In partnership with St. Catherine’s Anglican Church, we provide thoughtful welcome baskets for each incoming group, helping them feel supported and valued as they begin this new chapter.

Please consider making a donation as you are able.

Conversations Across the Church

Conversations Across the Church

Conversations Across the Church - Sunday, May 24

Mark your calendars for May 24 and join us for our next Conversations Across the Church online gathering!

This time together will include a brief time of worship, grounding us in prayer and community as we listen, learn and reflect together.

We’ll be joined by voices from our Global Mission partners: the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL), Iglesia Evangelica Luterana Unida, and Iglesia Luterana del Perú (IL-P). Together, we will reflect on a shared question: Where do you see life in your church?

Through these perspectives, we’ll hear stories from across our global community—reminding us of the many ways God is at work with and among us.

Join us for this meaningful time of connection and reflection. Come ready to listen, be inspired, and consider where you see signs of life in your own context.

Register now to reserve your spot! https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/s27TUCRVTGS2EUyJJBvLKg

Prayer of Solidarity with Palestinians

Prayer of Solidarity with Palestinians

Nakba Day, Yawm an-Nakba, meaning “Day of the Catastrophe” is generally commemorated on May 15th.

For the Palestinians it is an annual day of commemoration of the displacement of people and loss of over 75% of historical Palestine that preceded and followed the Israeli Declaration of independence in 1948. During the 1948 Palestine War, an estimated 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled and hundreds of Palestinian towns and villages were depopulated  and destroyed. These refugees and their descendants number several million people, divided between Jordan (2 million), Lebanon (427,057), Syria (477,700), the West Bank (788,108) and the Gaza Strip (1.1 million), with at least another quarter of a million internally displaced Palestinians in Israel.

For the last 8 decades, Palestinians have experienced what they call the “ongoing Nakba” (or catastrophe) – displacement and dispossession, denial of rights., occupation, apartheid, and now genocide.

We join in prayer with our Palestinian Christian siblings as they pray:

Liberator Christ, for many years we have witnessed the ongoing Nakba in Palestine and we continue to cry out for justice and deliverance. In the midst of despair, give us active and steadfast hope like that of the persistent widow who never ceases at the sight of injustice. We continue to pray for the creativity and wisdom of the Holy Spirit as we organize under one struggle for liberation and just peace.

Lord in your mercy…hear our prayer.
