More Gratitude from the Lookout ShelterGloria Dei's generosity Making a Difference in the Lives of the Most Vulnerable Barbaria Mayer (former Mt. Olivet member Lookout Shelter volunteer) forwarded this Thank-You note she received from the manager of the Lookout Society. To Barbara Mayer, With your amazing support, as well as the community’s – including Gloria Dei Lutheran Church – together we were able to create over 150 kits and shared them with: CNV staff, CNV Fire department North Shore Emergency Management team, and Extreme Weather Response sites. After North Vancouver's needs were met we sent kits to some high needs areas such as the Downtown Eastside, Al Mitchel Place, Walton Shelter (Main and Hastings area), Commercial Street EWR site, and Powell Street Getaway. About 25 kits are still available to be handed out on the North Shore in case there is an unexpected, emergent need. I am aware approximately 125 kits have been handed out and were very well received by people in need in the community. Thanks so much to all the donors and a big thank you to you Barb for doing so much of the heavy lifting for some of this community’s most vulnerable people, Darren Guild - North Shore Operations Manager Lookout Housing and Health Society

Lenten Online DevotionalLC† Awakened by the Spirit Lutherans Connect is once again offering an online Lenten Devotional from February 14 - March 31st (except Sundays)
Devotions will be posted daily to the Lutherans Connect Facebook page.
To join the email list, write to lutheransconnect@gmail.com
During Lent, we remember the journey Jesus made into the desert, and then into the life of ministry that ultimately brings him to the way of the Cross. Making space for reflection, fasting and prayer is how Christians have marked these days throughout the ages. Lutherans Connect invites you to make space for that journey, by joining us daily (except Sundays) from Ash Wednesday until Palm Sunday and every day in Holy Week. As usual, we will bring together scripture readings, poetry, music, reflection and images from a wide range of ecumenical traditions in a daily online devotion.
This Lent, we will reflect on what scripture tells us about sleeping, waking up, and being awakened, as part of the journey we make through our own transformation. We will investigate how waking up in the biblical story is often a moment in which there is new knowledge, a new path, and closer ties with God. How can these stories help us hold fast to God as we struggle to build God’s realm in the world?
We will also focus on the ways in which awakening, learning, and raising our own consciousness — affects us individually and communally. As we struggle with all of the different crises in our world, what are the remarkable ways in which Creation, and our own human societies, have found to keep going, to regenerate, renew and restore life, even as we also continue to have catastrophic impacts?
Join us, starting February 14th and find out.
And may the peace of Christ be with you in your Lenten journey!
