Greetings from Marianne and Wayne

Over two months ago, just after Victoria Day, Marianne and Wayne left to travel across Canada.  They sent us the following mid-travels greeting.

Our main objective is to spend most of our time in Atlantic Canada as we know it the least.  We sleep very comfortably in our campervan every night; mosquito netting keeps bugs out and a small fridge keeps the beer and wine cool!

We've spent 3 weeks in Newfoundland as well as in Labrador.  WAY longer than we thought we would and have enjoyed it greatly.  Few crowds, friendly and helpful locals, and so much history unknown to us living in western Canada.  We've seen icebergs, caribou, moose, whales, seals, thousands of puffins, and gannets, unique geological landscapes, and numerous UNESCO heritage sites, including where the Vikings came ashore more than 1,000 years ago.  There is a National Historic Site in Labrador where 16thcentury Basque whalers established a major whaling port.  We took a 90-minute ferry from southern Newfoundland to the small French islands of St Pierre and Miquelon and spent the day wandering around the main town.  Euros, baguettes, and French licence plates - we were definitely in Europe!  The weather in this most easterly province has been surprisingly good.  We could have stayed even longer in Newfoundland and Labrador, but it is time to move on and see the other Atlantic provinces.

We plan on being home again towards the end of September.

We wish you all a sunny and relaxing rest of the summer and look forward to seeing everyone in a few months.

-Marianne and Wayne

A Summer Prayer

A Summer Prayer

Long warm days … The pace of life slows … A time for picnics and rest in the shade … Lord, help me to rest awhile in the cooling shade of your presence. Slow down my restless heart and fill me with gentle compassion for all your people. Amen.
