The last Sunday in October is often celebrated as Reformation Sunday in many Lutheran churches.  It is an opportunity to give thanks for the faithfulness of our spiritual ancestors and also to reflect on how we need to continue to be a reforming church in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world. This letter from the bishops of our sister denomination (ELCA) in the USA outlines the priorities a reforming Christian faith calls us to.

This year, we will also take this opportunity to commemorate the 700th Anniversary of the Nicene Creed and to celebrate God's saving intent for humanity as expressed in this ancient creed.  The Nicene Creed is recited annually by hundreds of millions of Christians throughout the world. It is the most widely accepted creed and embraced by Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran, Presbyterian and many other Protestant churches. We pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to unite the church today in its proclamation and witness to the world.
