In light of the recent surge in COVID-19 case counts in the Lower Mainland region, and out of concern for the safety of both students and teachers of the Conservatory, we are temporarily closing the Conservatory for a two week period, effective as of Monday, November 30. This temporary closure will be reviewed after 14 days (December 14, 2020) to determine if it is safe to reopen at that time.
We are presently reviewing the guidance issued by the Provincial Health Officer, Worksafe BC as well as our Regional Governing Body - the BC Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cnada - for a safe re-opening of our facility in a limited capacity and following a phased approach. Details of our plan will be sent out by email to all teachers of the Conservatory by June 16.
We continue to closely monitor the information and directives from the BC Ministry of Health. Our Music Conservatory continues to be closed until the provincial public Health Officer lifts the mandatory order on physical distancing.
In response to public health recommendations, Gloria Dei has suspended the use of our facility for ALL community users—this includes Conservatory teachers, students and visitors—effective March 23 through Sunday, April 26. We will continue to monitor developments during this time, and will provide you with regular updates.
At Gloria Dei we have a music studio where professional musicians can rent our facilities to teach their students. There are three soundproof rooms available: two rooms with two pianos in each (a grand and an upright) and a study/theory room as well as a waiting area. The setting is warm and inviting and is private from the main activity areas of Gloria Dei Church.
