2019 Theme: Web of Life

This year, the theme for the season is biodiversity, God’s web of life. We invite you to consider the unique value of each creature in God’s wondrously complex web of life.

The season begins on September 1, the Day of Prayer for Creation, and runs through October 4, the Feast of St. Francis, who is the patron saint of ecology in many traditions.

We will be marking the season by including petitions for creation in the intercessory prayers, and including a creation-themed affirmation of faith in our Sunday liturgy, culminating in a special worship service on September 29, on the theme of water. Watch for elements of creation, both symbolic and real beautifyling the sanctuary during this season.

PRAYER FOR CREATION:

Creating God, you name is written in every leaf, every bird, every river, every stone, every living being. Thank you for calling us by name. Thank you for your continued creating power in water, rivers, forests and oceans. Make us attentive to the wounds of the earth and willing to work for the healing of the whole creation. Let our children enjoy an abundant nature and live a long life on earth.
